Cowtown Marathon is committed to the health and safety of all athletes as we continue to make accommodations within a COVID environment. In particular, we want to provide a safe and fun experience for our youth runners. In 2021, as part of a modified event, we did not host the traditional Kids 5K event at Will Rogers. Instead, we visited more than 25 school-specific locations over the course of 3 months hosting pop-up runs for an estimated 2,000 youth.

2022, once again included not having the Kids 5K at Will Rogers. Instead, we hosted our Kids 5K presented by Academy Sports & Outdoors at The Botanical Gardens during March and May. Each school team ran 3 miles with all the fan-fair of attending an off-site event but within the safety confines of COVID accommodations for large youth gatherings.

As with 2023, and again for 2024, we are thrilled to welcome our school teams back to the February event! The Kids 5K will start at 9 am and will run a separate course from the Adults 5K. This is a departure in start times as well as course, as the Kids 5K and Adults 5K have typically always followed the same course. This new course will have the Kids 5K start in the same location as the other races, but will finish where we finished in 2020, allowing easier access to the School Team Reunite area and school booths. We are looking forward to the new course and we hope to see you there in 2024!
